David Parrish was an international speaker at the Creative Business Summit Africa 2018, held in Nairobi, Kenya, in September 2018.

At Creative Business Summit Africa, David spoke about creativity and business, creative entrepreneurship and innovative business models in the creative industries internationally in a speech entitled ‘The Business of Creativity’.

David participated in the events in other ways and made a presentation about Creativity in Business, including two kinds of creativity: “a-Creativity” and “i-Creativity”.

He also moderated a panel discussion on ‘Reigniting the Africa Creative Economy’ with speakers from Kenya and other African countries, including Hon. John Kiarie, Olawale Anifowose, Ciiru Waithaka and Ronald Osumba.

 

David also hosted a session on ‘Empowering Emerging Creative Ecosystems’ at which he spoke about his experience of leading creative business support programmes in Liverpool, UK and County Donegal, Ireland.

At the session on ‘Demystifying Myths Around the Creative Economy’, David spoke about his international experience of working with businesses and agencies in the creative economy and answered questions from the audience about the creative economy.

During the events at Creative Business Summit Africa, David met with creative entrepreneurs, investors and creative industries professionals from Namibia, Uganda, Nigeria and Zambia.

Creative Business Summit Africa is organised by Junior Achievement Kenya, with sponsorship and support from a range of businesses and organisations.

One of the events taking place in conjunction with Creative Business Summit Africa was the Creative Business Cup national finals for Kenya. David was one of the judges for CBC Kenya. The winners will go to the international finals of the Creative Business Cup in Copenhagen, Denmark, in November 2018.

David presented one of his books, ‘T-Shirts and Suits: A Guide to the Business of Creativity’, to the Creative Business Cup national winners from Kenya.

David has delivered keynote speeches around the world. He has spoken at conferences, conventions, summits and other events for the creative industries, the digital economy, cultural industries, the creative economy, the cultural economy and the ‘Orange Economy’. David has given talks and participated in panel discussions and round table debates. He has also presented lectures and TEDx talks.

David works in the creative economy throughout the world, sometimes with the British Council.
